MBiotech 2022 › Alex Ognjanovic
Alex is a Master of Biotechnology graduate at the University of Toronto, where he gained extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, working in Medical Affairs and Research and Development at GlaxoSmithKline and Amgen respectively. Alex has a strong background in clinical research where he led initiatives at St. Joseph's Healthcare for pulmonary fibrosis drug discovery. He currently works at STEMCELL Technologies as a Scientific Recruiter - Scientific Sales, leading hiring and training initiatives for the organization's Scientific Sales and Scientific Support divisions. Outside of work, Alex is a music enthusiast that loves collecting vinyl records and enjoys hiking.
Aside from the internship portion of the program, MBiotech taught me how to be patient and truly refined my soft skills which are what employers look out for the most for candidates out in the job market! Team work competencies and strong communication for sure. MBiotech does a very great job at exposing you to team work with a wide array of different folks. You will be challenged in the industry but the program does a good job at prepping for this. Openness and risk taking are key. Never narrow your window of opportunity and always take on new challenges. Tunnel vision can be detrimental to your career progression and overall success.
