Our Mission 

The University of Toronto Mississauga Language Academy (UTMLA) is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovative language acquisition and instruction. This commitment encompasses a comprehensive spectrum, embracing both widely taught languages and those less commonly explored. 

Our focal point remains on supporting preservation and revitalization efforts of indigenous languages in our region. 

We are also dedicated to offering of robust community outreach initiatives, the pursuit of pioneering research avenues, and the facilitation of experiential learning endeavors.

Our Vision 

We aspire to cultivate a dynamic and inclusive environment wherein linguistic diversity, intercultural dialogues, and interconnectedness flourish, thus foster scholarly rigor and transformative education. Our core principles of respect, collaboration, and lifelong learning form the very essence of our ethos and advance our programs.

A Message from Our Director

Welcome!

I am honored to extend a warm welcome to you to the UTM Language Academy, affectionately known as UTMLA!

UTMLA serves as a vibrant hub where learners and teachers of diverse languages and cultures unite to connect, converge, and coalesce.  

As the director, I feel privileged to collaborate with a team of seasoned educators and renowned experts who are deeply committed to offering impactful and enriching learning experiences for our program participants and community members.  

I take pride in our innovative programs that encompass both widely taught languages as well as those that are less commonly studied. From researchers in Sanskrit and Qur’anic Arabic to children learning about the Chinese language and culture in a specially designed day camp, from supporting efforts to preserve and revitalize local indigenous languages to providing robust pre-university programs to international youth, UTMLA stands as an intersection for all to come together and enjoy ingenious ways of language learning and teaching.
