Tim Moffat is the Horticulturist Assistant for the Research Greenhouse at the University of Toronto Mississauga. He has an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph in Biology, as well as a post graduate diploma in Ecosystem Restoration from Niagara College.

 

Tim brings over 7 years of progressive industry experience to UTM focused in commercial greenhouse management and agronomy research and extension. He has worked for companies such as Dow AgroSciences and Cargill Specialty Seeds and Oils in positions supporting hybrid canola breeding in Western Canada and is highly experienced quantifying plant performance of field crops in small plot research.

 

Most recently Tim has worked in roles optimizing the production of licensed cannabis in greenhouse and indoor sites across Ontario. He has worked with multidisciplinary teams on projects focused on improving crop yields through applied research trials in fertigation management, environmental optimization, and plant spacing densities. His career experience has given him an appreciation of applying scientific principles to drive improvements across a variety of production systems.

 

Outside of horticultural science, Tim is passionate about the natural environment and he can often be found hiking, portaging, and exploring Canada with his family.
