Conviron CMS

 

Below are instructions on how to operate Conviron Central Management System for the following growth chambers and environmental rooms:

  • 2016C, 2016D, 2016E, 2033-03ER, 2033-04ER, 3092-01GC, 3092-02GC, 3092-03GC, 3092-04GC
  • 3028-01ER, 3028-06GC, 3028-07GC, 3028-08GC and 3028-09GC

View or download environmental data log

  1. On Conviron CM desktop, click on Central Management icon.
  2. Right-click on a chamber name.   Click on Trend graph.
  3. Change entry under LLC Date, Days, and Plot accordingly.

Create or edit an environment setting

  1. Open Central Management.
  2. Right-click on a chamber's name.  Click on Virtual Chamber.
  3. Create and edit program
    1. Under Main Menu > Programs, click on the create or edit icon.
    2. Type or select a Program ID, then click on Select.
    3. Create your first line:  Click on Insert line. Type 00:00 under time. Indicate desired Temperature (°C), Light intensity (0 to 750 µMOL), and Light Level (0,1,2)
    4. Click on Insert line again to create your second line.  Input the end time for first line. All other input should be the same as your first line.
    5. Click on Insert line for the third time. Indicate desired environmental settings.  
    6. Repeat Step 3.4. Note that all parameters will ramp between Line 2 and Line 3 settings.
    7. Repeat Steps 3.5 and 3.6, if necessary.  Note that the last line should indicate 23:59 under Time.
    8. Click Upload program into chamber.  Confirm by clicking Yes. Then click on Ok, then Close.
  4. Create and edit schedule
    1. Select Edit on Schedule.
    2. Under Program number, type the Program ID number that you wish to run.
    3. On the cell on the right, indicate the number of cycles you wish to run the program.
    4. Click insert entry to add more programs.
    5. Click on Upload schedule into chamber
    6. Confirm with Yes. Click Ok.
  5. Modify the rate at which temperature changes between settings        
    1. Click on Ramp/Step, then click on Change
    2. Type the ­Speed at which temperature should ramp between settings (Min/°C).  It is currently set to 12.          
  6. Click Start/stop on Main Menu.  Click Ok.
  7. Click ­Start chamber from the selected row
  8. Remember to also manually turn on the lights inside the chamber.

Add users to receive an alarm:

  1. On desktop, click on the Central Management icon
  2. On the left pane,  click on Edit Users
  3. On a new window, click on Add New and then add Username and Email. Click on ­Ok.
  4. Go to Step 5 or Step 6.
  5. To receive an alarm for all chambers in CM:
    1. On the menu bar, select Tools>Network subscribers.
    2. On a new window, click on the bar next to the asterisk.  Choose the name of the user you wish to add.
    3. Click ­Ok.
  6. To receive alarms from specific chambers only:
    1. On the main window, right-click on the chamber of interest. Then click on Properties.
    2. On the new window, select the ­Subscribers tab.
    3. Click on the bar opposite the asterisk symbol.
    4. Choose the name of the user you wish to add.
    5. Click ­Ok.

You may also remote to Conviron CM desktop:

Create a service request through ServiceDesk to ask assistance in setting up access to Conviron CM desktop in DV2033.  Ask for the following to be done for you:
  1. On your computer:
    1. Install UTMVPN.
    2. Install Remote Desktop app.  Add remote connection to Conviron CM desktop.
  2. On Conviron CM desktop in DV2033:
    1. Assist you in first time log-in using your utorid and password.
    2. Add desktop shortcut for C:\Program Files (x86)\CM\CentralManagement.

Add utm.growth.facilities on the same service request for staff to authorize your access.
