Re: Memo to the UTM Academic Community on Summer Course Offering Submissions
The Summer 2025 course offering submission tool will be opening on Monday, December 2, 2024. Summer 2025 course offering submissions are due on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 by 10:00 am.
This memo contains detailed information on and timelines for course offering submissions, as well as instructions for entering information in the timetable collection tool. If any academic units need to update their administrative access to the course offering submission tool, they should contact Senior Programmer & Analyst, I&ITS Johnny Chung at jmh.chung@utoronto.ca.
Important details about summer course offerings
- UTM intends to continue offering a strong and diverse summer timetable in summer 2025, similar to what was delivered in summer 2024. This will provide all students with enrolment options that best suit their respective summer obligations and to meet students where they are.
- Please indicate which courses (if any) will be delivered online or hybrid, as approved in the calendar, by checking off this box on the course offering submissions application.
- Academic units are encouraged to consider offering courses that may not have been offered in past years, as well as courses that may appeal to a broader group of students.
- While planning courses, academic units are asked to please review enrolments and waitlists from previous offerings, including waitlists from current fall/winter terms, as these are often indicators of anticipated demand.

Timetable scheduling notes for the summer term
- In order to maximize student options as well as the utilization of classrooms, OVPAD requests that academic units adhere to the standard 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm or 5:00 pm start times for two-hour lectures; and 9:00 am or 12:00 pm for three-hour lectures.
- Please consider scheduling late-afternoon and early-evening courses to allow students to balance their timetables with other commitments.
- Hybrid courses will have a classroom booked. Courses that are running all components online (SYNC or ASYNC) will not be assigned a classroom.
- Summer H courses can be offered over a 12-week session as "H5Y" or in six-week sessions as either "H5F" or "H5S."
- Academic units that complete their summer 2025 course offerings in advance of January 8, please let me know via my email, src.dasilva@utoronto.ca, or on Teams, so I can proceed with the approval process (this helps speed up the process for everyone).
Please contact me if you have any questions about the course offering or timetable collection tools. I will be sharing a call for fall/winter 2025-26 course offerings submissions (with associated links and details) in late December or early January.
