The University of Toronto has more than 130 partner university institutions in 40 different countries spanning six continents around the world. Each year, partner universities agree to accept a limited number of U of T students into their programs. In exchange, U of T accepts students from our partner universities. Exchange programs provide second- or third-year students with excellent opportunities to experience new cultures and learn new languages while earning credits towards their U of T degrees.
As an outbound Exchange Student you may:
- Remain a U of T student, and pay U of T tuition fees
- Go on exchange for one semester or for a full academic year
- Participate in a Summer research program
- Choose your own accommodation or live on-campus residence
- Apply for financial aid if you are eligible for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
- Earn transfer credits towards your U of T degree (for most courses):
- Click here for details on transfer credit requirements
- Use the Pre-Departure Course Authorization Form to assess credit transferability
Minimum Academic Requirements
- Must be in good standing and have completed at least 4.0 full credits
- Cumulative GPA of 2.25 is required for consideration (some partners require a higher GPA — please consult the list of Eligibility Criteria)
- Some exchange programs have special language requirements
