Jennifer, Katrine, Sophia tabling at Mind Explorers event

On Saturday, March 1st, representatives from the Centre for Child Development, Mental Health, and Policy (CCDMP) attended the Mind Explorers event at the Hazel McCallion Library in Mississauga. This family-friendly event resembled a fair, featuring multiple booths that highlighted activities related to psychology and neuroscience aimed at helping children understand how their brains work. Attendees collected stamps at each booth to complete a 'passport,' with each booth managed by a different lab within the Infant and Child Studies Centre at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Once completed, the passport could be exchanged for a small prize.

This event provided us with an opportunity to engage with our community, share our handouts on social-emotional development, and engage in meaningful discussions. It was a true delight to meet so many families and children who stopped by to chat, spin the wheel, pick up resources, and learn about current research & initiatives within the CCDMP.

Some of the resources shared during the event included:

The 3Es of Social-Emotional Development © Handout

How to be an Emotion Coach: L.O.V.E. Strategy

We are incredibly thankful to the Biopsychological Investigations of Gender (BIG) Lab, especially event organizer Anh Tran, for making this event possible.
