The 1st 3-Minute Thesis Competition (3MT) at UTM

The Erindale Biology Society (EBS), in collaboration with Canadian Undergraduate Students' Voices in Education & Research (CUSVER) and the Department of Biology, are hosting the first 3-Minute Thesis Competition (3MT) at UTM. For the first time, UTM Biology students will get the opportunity to present their completed or uncompleted research in a short, yet interactive 3-minute presentation where they will be judged by a team of the UTM Biology faculty members. This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their science communication and public speaking skills, which are critical for a career in research. The top 3 winners will be selected by the judging committee and will receive $450, $250, and $150 along with a signed certificate from the UTM Biology Department in recognition of their effort and success.

The event will take place virtually over Zoom on March 26th at 5:00 pm-8:00 pm. If you are interested in this opportunity, please refer to the eligibility criteria document posted on the EBS and CUSVER Instagram bios. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can proceed to fill out the application form linked in the same bio. The application deadline is March 22nd, 2021. After your submission, you will receive instructions to submit your 1-slide along with a $5 registration fee by March 24th, 2021.
