Before U.S. presidents came into his comic crosshairs, Lorne Michaels staged University of Toronto productions poking fun at campus life. 

At a U of T event in New York City Monday for American students, the man behind Saturday Night Live looked back on his undergraduate years and answered questions from prospective students on topics ranging from the university to SNL and the state of U.S. politics.

The University of Toronto has top 10 international ranking in six subjects, says the independent QS World University Rankings by Subject

In the report released today, U of T ranked in the top 10 globally in nursing (6th), sports-related subjects (6th), anatomy & physiology (8th), geography (9th), computer science (10th) and education (10th). Medicine, anthropology and religious studies just missed the top 10 list, landing in 11th place.

On the second-floor lobby of the Innovation Complex at the University of Toronto Mississauga, a plastic tower sprouts a variety of produce including curly starbor kale, buttercrunch and collard greens.

Rising almost six feet off the ground and illuminated by high output fluorescent bulbs, it gives the often high-traffic, student-centred space a futuristic feel.
