Do I have to pay for UTM Orientation 2025?
No - All UTM Orientation programming found in our schedule is FREE. If there are paid events hosted during orientation or any events that require a ticket. This will be clearly indicated on the event and you will be provided a link to purchase the ticket.
Is attending Orientation mandatory?
Although Orientation is not mandatory, attending is highly encouraged as it is a great way to familiarize yourself with the campus, learn about our resources and meet new people! Note that students living on residence do have mandatory programming that may not be accurately reflected on our schedules.
How does the schedule for Orientation work?
Orientation runs from August 29 to September 5. It comprises different events led by various departments and groups on campus, and you get to pick which ones you want to attend. By building your schedule, you can cater your orientation experience to your needs and interests!
Can individuals not going to UTM attend Orientation events?
UTM Orientation events are for incoming UTM students only. Non-UTM students and guests will not be admitted into events and activities as our priorities are to serve the needs of our new students first and connect them with those within the UTM community. We highly recommend that new students come to Orientation with an open mind - we will help connect you with new friends through our activities and events!
Do I need to bring anything to Orientation?
By the fall, you should have your utoronto email and UTORid - we may need this information to verify your registration at any Orientation event. If this is your first time visiting campus, you can pick up your Tcard. Learn more about this process here.
Can I bring my Parents or Supporters to Orientation?
Orientation programming is intended for students only, but parents, families and supporters are welcome to attend a separate Orientation dedicated to them on August 29th and August 30th. Learn more here.
Some events are during the first days of class, What Should I do?
The Fall 2025 Semester begins on September 2. During this time, most of our programming will primarily be drop-in style. This means you can stop by whenever it is flexible to your schedule and leave whenever you need to.
How can I connect with other incoming students before Orientation Week?
One of the best ways to meet other students coming to UTM is to make sure you have joined your EagleConnect Squad. To join your squad log into Quercus using your UTORid / JOINid.
Are Orientation Week Events age-restricted (19+)?
No, all orientation events are available to students of all ages. This provides a more safe, engaging, and inclusive experience for all in attendance. All Orientation events at UTM are dry (alcohol and substance-free).
Are all of the Orientation events accessible?

Will My Picture or Video Be Taken?
Throughout Orientation, various media teams will be taking images or videos to be used for social media publications, or future University media. This can include group or solo pictures/videos; If you would not like to be featured in such media, please inform each event's organizer on event day.
What Food Options Will Be Available on Campus During Orientation?
Visitors throughout Orientation can dine at various locations on campus. See our campus' Hospitality website to see the different food options that will be available.
