University of Toronto President Meric Gertler is congratulating the Class of 2021 and inviting them to tune into the spring virtual convocation ceremony next week.

“We're extremely proud of you,” he said in a video message. “You've worked so hard and learned so much inside and outside the classroom. And you’ve crossed the finish line under uniquely challenging circumstances.

“You're an inspiration to us all, and we look forward to paying tribute to you when we confer your degree.”

More than 15,500 students from 105 different countries will receive their degrees in absentia at the virtual ceremony, which will air on the university's convocation hub at noon EDT on June 23.

“We wish we could acknowledge your important achievement in person,” President Gertler said, “but we hope you’ll join us online along with your family and friends to celebrate this wonderful milestone in your life.
