Mimi (she/her) is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Sociology. She has a background in anthropology, ethnomusicology, and jazz music performance. Currently, she studies social networks, culture, and urban sociology. Her research thus far has been focused on considering gender’s role in the distribution of labour, power, and opportunities in the music industry. She has pursued her interests at the Department of Family Medicine as well as the Area of Music Technology at McGill University, Montreal’s Laboratory of Urban Culture, and in various qualitative projects at the University of Toronto.

In her spare time, she loves long-distance cardio activities, making kombucha, and spending time with her cat Maxine. At the CDRS, Mimi is most excited to get to know more members of UTM’s various departments and to experiment with different mediums for public and applied scholarship.
