Calls for Funding 2024-25

The funding calls for 2024-2025 are now closed. The details of the award recipients can be viewed via Research and Research Creation Awards.

For 2024-25 CDRS offered two funding possibilities, one supporting faculty research (up to $5000 per project proposed) and the other supporting faculty research creation (funding two projects, $1500 each).

CDRS Research Creation Funding Call

For 2024–25, CDRS will support two faculty research projects ($1500 each) related to research creation as broadly defined by SSHRC (e.g. exhibitions, documentaries, digital storytelling, animation, theatre productions, poetry, creative non-fiction, etc.). The funding can be used for costs associated with the research creation process, including but not limited to: hiring graduate and undergraduate RAs or assistants; specialty consultation or technical expertise essential to the project (such as a graphic designer or animator); website hosting and development; events and/or workshops associated with the project; technical training for the PI and their team; purchasing of equipment related to the project; etc.

Eligibility: The opportunity is available to humanities, arts, and social science (HASS) faculty members with a full-time appointment (tenure or teaching stream, including CLTAs) at UTM. Partial funding may be awarded at the discretion of the adjudication committee. Faculty may apply to both the research and research creation funding calls. Successful applicants will be eligible to reapply for funding 24 months following the competition deadline in which they were successful, should the funding opportunity continue.

Funding: Two research-creation projects up to a maximum of $1,500 per project proposal for the 2024-2025 academic year. Successful applicants will collaborate with CDRS and OVPRI staff to create and disseminate research communications about the project once underway.

Project Timeline: Project(s) will be funded from Fall 2024 to May 31, 2025.

Deadline: Please send proposals by October 14th, 2024 (11:59pm) to cdrs.admin@utoronto.ca. Proposals will be evaluated by the CDRS Steering Committee. Any questions or assistance with scoping possible event(s) or questions regarding eligible expenses are welcome and can be sent to cdrs.admin@utoronto.ca.

CDRS Research Funding Call

For 2024–25, CDRS will support and collaborate on a range of faculty research activities (e.g., small conferences, film series, talks, lectures, workshops). Funding (up to $5000 per project) can be used to pay honoraria, hire RAs, and/or reimburse costs of catering. The proposed research activities can be tied to UG courses being taught (e.g., guest speaker or visiting artist), so long they are open to the larger UTM community.
