Research
Acoustic Communication in Insects. Current research projects deal with the signal systems of certain Orthoptera and involve:
- Description and analysis of calling songs in temperate and tropical katydid spp. (Tettigoniidae)
- Mechanics of sound generation and hearing in crickets and katydids
- Determination of critical parameters in katydid acoustic signals
- Role of song in katydid mate choice; (5) Substrate signalling in acoustic Orthoptera
