Title: Latitudinal clines in the phenology of floral display associated with adaptive evolution during a biological invasion
This study examines how Lythrum salicaria flowering schedules vary with latitude, showing earlier and shorter flowering at higher latitudes. Changes in schedule shape suggest a bet-hedging strategy against environmental challenges. These patterns reflect adaptive evolution, potentially driving the speciesโ rapid invasion through shifts in biotic and abiotic interactions.
