Shalini Dharna, CPA, CA, LPA, has accumulated over ten years of experience in accounting and finance since graduating with honors from the University of Toronto Mississauga with a specialist in accounting. Gaining experience at Ernst and Young and BDO, Dharna served clients from various industries with different needs and requirements by auditing financial statements and providing areas of improvements to business owners. Dharna also worked as a financial analyst at the Ministry of Education managing a portfolio of child care funding recipients and served as the financial lead in the transfer of family support programs. During her time at the ministry, she developed policies and procedures to evaluate financial statements to ensure proper use of childcare funding.
Recently, Dharna joined her father and U of T alumnus, Harpal Dharna, CPA, CGA, to assume responsibility for the accounting practice with the goal of helping businesses and individuals succeed in achieving their financial dreams. She focuses on helping small to mid-size businesses grow and develop by providing tax strategies and financial literacy education. Her experience in financial statement preparation and analysis, combined with her knowledge of accounting and tax, provides Dharna with the expertise to offer her clients effective solutions and strategies that maximize operational efficiencies while supporting growth and profits.
In her spare time, Dharna is a dedicated volunteer and ambassador for U of T Mississauga. She has worked on the front lines of student engagement as an alumni tour guide and served as a mentor to the Undergraduate Commerce Society offering her experience and guidance to students seeking to explore career options and expand personal networks. In 2014, Dharna was presented with an Arbor Award by the University of Toronto for her exceptional volunteer contributions.
