Michael Gottlieb holds an undergraduate biology degree and a masters of management and professional accounting from U of T Mississauga. He currently is the director of commercial operations for Genzyme, an international pharmaceutical company that discovers and delivers transformative therapies for patients with rare and special unmet medical needs.
Gottlieb has held progressively senior finance and operations roles in healthcare, mining and banking. One of his more interesting roles was leading the development of a joint venture with Toronto hospitals to outsource preclinical mouse research for both academic and private sectors.
In 2009, Gottlieb was one of eight chartered accountants in the province to receive the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO) Award of Distinction, an award that is granted every three years, and was the sole recipient of the ICAO Community Leadership Award. Both awards recognize achievements by chartered accountants under 40. In addition to his industry experience, Gottlieb has served as treasurer of the Parkinson’s Society Canada and as chair of Spinal Cord Injury Ontario.
