Astrid Poei is a communications coordinator at the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, where she acts as a ministry spokesperson to address issues like the 2014 Burlington Bay Skyway truck hit.
Prior to joining the Ontario public sector, she worked as a journalist for nearly a decade, covering everything from sports to crime. Her work has appeared in several publications including the Toronto Sun, Toronto Star and, of course, The Medium.
She graduated from the University of Toronto Mississauga with a BA in English and Professional Writing and Communication and attended Ryerson University for Journalism.
Her passion is writing and she believes in lifelong learning. Currently, she is completing a certificate in creative writing at the University of Toronto and is working on her second book.
Poei loves to travel and has backpacked through Asia and Europe. She also enjoys fishing and playing hockey.
