EV Parking Spots & Charging Stations
WHAT WE OFFER
UTM Parking & Transportation Services is proud to support services for a greener future by providing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on campus for your convenience.
We have recently doubled the number of EV charging stations available for use on campus!
WHERE ARE THE SPOTS
12 dedicated spaces are located in the lower level of parking deck P8.
HOW DOES IT WORK
Users may charge for a maximum of 2.5 hours complimentary, and are then required to move their vehicle to another space in their assigned lot. A fee of $5 / hour applies to any vehicle left charging beyond the complimentary period.
CONNECTING
Connect to the charging stations via ChargePoint®, the world’s largest EV charging network.
Download the app: App Store or Google Play. Once Installed, go to Account ► Connections ► Browse Connections, and search for “UTM”.
Your connection request will automatically be approved after agreeing to the terms & conditions. It may take a few minutes for the ChargePoint® network to update before the stations will be visible. Lastly, please close and re-open the app.
Please note that vehicles may only park in the EV charging station spaces while actively charging!
Paid parking is required at all times.
Parking Enforcement
Who enforces parking on campus?
The City of Mississauga issues penalty notices (parking tickets) under the Administrative Penalty System (APS) for most parking violations on the UTM campus. Accessible parking tickets will continue to be managed through the Provincial Offenses Court. For more information about APS, please contact the City here.
The tagging and towing of vehicles parked in violation of the current UTM Parking Regulations, will be performed by officers empowered to issue municipal parking tickets.
More Information regarding parking enforcement on campus:
Inquiries about the release of towed vehicles:
What to do if you receive a parking infraction ticket
UTM has no authority to revoke a City of Mississauga parking infraction ticket. Ticketing issues must proceed through the normal court system.
Municipal parking tickets are payable to the City of Mississauga and fines are set by the City of Mississauga.
Vehicles towed by the City of Mississauga will be released upon payment of towing and storage charges. These rates are set by the City and are liable to change without notice.
Motorcycle Parking
New Motorcycle Permit
Effective September 1, 2024, all Motorcycles parked on the UTM campus require valid, paid parking. A $40 monthly permit will be available for purchase online, valid for use in the designated motorcycle parking spaces in lots P9 and P5.
PAID Parking
Motorcycles parked in any other lot require valid, paid parking for that location. A motorcycle kickstand support plate must be used to prevent damage from the kickstand to the parking surface.
Park LEGALLY
Motorcycles, like any other vehicle, must be parked in parking spaces only.
Motorcycles are Not permitted to park:
- In bicycle racks
- On sidewalks or pedestrian areas

- In front of doors
- In lot P1, or Resident lots P7 and P10
Motorcycles parked improperly are subject to tagging and / or towing at the owner's expense.
Safety Tips for Parking on Campus
If you're ever in a situation where you feel unsafe, call the University of Toronto Mississauga Campus Safety emergency line (905) 569-4333
The time when many people feel most vulnerable is when they are either leaving or returning to a parked car – particularly at night. If you ever feel unsafe, please call Campus Safety.
Keep your property safe
- Always remove the car keys and lock your car
- Never leave items visible in the car, put them where they cannot be seen - and make sure they do not have your name or address on them
Never leave credit cards in the car
Examples of items: electronic devices such as GPS units, lap-top computers, personal listening devices, personal bags such as purses & gym bags, or any money including change
Stay aware of your surroundings
- Choose your parking spot carefully
- Always park in well lit areas, as close as possible to your destination, the stairs or elevator.
- Avoid parking on garage levels that are empty or rarely used
- If you do not know the parking lot well and are worried about its safety, drive right through to see if everything appears normal before you park
- If it does not feel right, trust your instincts - either leave and find somewhere else to park, or drive around until someone you know drives in; then park near them, and leave the lot or garage with them
Getting to and from your car
- Before you leave the car, look around carefully
- When you do leave the car, walk briskly and confidently to the exit or elevator, do not be distracted
- If you are nervous when returning to your parked car, ask someone you know and trust to accompany you.
- When you are returning to your car, have your keys in your hand – avoid fumbling through your pockets, purse or briefcase in the middle of a deserted lot
- Before getting into your car, check inside carefully – especially the back seat
- Once inside, lock the doors immediately, and make sure that your purse, briefcase or other valuables are out of sight
- Know your nearest safe exit route
Tips for choosing a good spot
- When parking, back your vehicle into the parking stall, so that you are facing “out” whenever you enter or exit your vehicle
- This tactic both increases your visibility of the surrounding area and also allows you to drive away more quickly if you are being approached by a stranger
- If you are driving and parking alone, join a car pool, rideshare or have someone meet you
Change it up
- If you are worried about becoming a target, vary your routine
- Park in different spots
- Park at different times
- Avoid a predictable schedule
Know who to call, and when
Emergency (905) 569-4333/911
General (905) 828-5200
- If on the way to your car, you see that another vehicle has been broken into, call the police right away - do not go to your own car
- Tell the police where you are and remain in that location until they arrive
- Report intruders to the Parking Office or to Campus Safety
- You can report the following to the Parking Office or Campus Safety: abandoned vehicles or excess trash; broken or burned out lights; broken doors or broken locks; and, missing or damaged signs
