Finding our way – we can remain relevant as a profession

Summary of Susan Allen Comments

Susan provided an overview of her reflections on the future of the CPA Profession based on her own observations and on the key findings of the following 2 PwC studies:

  1. PwC’s 19th Annual Global CEO Survey – Assurance Findings
  2. PwCs 2013 NextGen: A Global generational study

As Susan has stated, “Both reports provide a more detailed summary of findings and give context to some of the points I referred to in my remarks.”

  1. Namely, I used the Assurance key findings from the CEO survey to describe how CPAs could remain relevant by understanding and take an active part in developing the tools and reporting frameworks for measuring and communicating those non-financial, softer areas that CEOs today, and in the future, wish to measure, communicate and report upon to their stakeholders.

  2. And secondly, I discussed the importance of shaping our future workplaces and career models for our current CPAs by ensuring that we understand and react to the attitudes, attributes and key drivers of the Millennial generation.
