Students of the Week 9

Silvana ChaconSilvana Chacon

Silvana Chacon is a graduate of Carleton University where she earned her Bachelor of Science with combined honours in neuroscience and biology. She has two degrees, previously earning her Honours Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Ottawa. During her studies, Silvana achieved high academic standing and developed a strong interest in drug development and health research management.

In her spare time, Silvana enjoys travelling, running, photography and skydiving. She is an avid painter and has submitted multiple paintings to the Brain and Mental Health Art Show.  Silvana aims to combine her creativity and scientific background with the business skills obtained from the MMI program to secure a leadership position in the healthcare sector.


 

Simran GrewalSimran Grewal

Simran is a graduate of McMaster University and completed a combined Honours Bachelor of Arts & Sciences and Biology.  She successfully balanced a consistently high GPA balanced with extracurricular activities such as being the Vice President - Events Coordinator for the McMaster School of Bhangra.

Simran’s undergraduate thesis analyzed the economic and social pressures regarding female feticide in Canada.  She has exceptional research skills and is seeking to apply her strong interest in healthcare to a role with government or not-for-profit organization. 


 

Brandon RoBrandon Ro

Brandon completed his BSc at Western University where he majored in biology and physiology.  He was a member of Western’s varsity dragon boat team and has also achieved a Black Belt in Taekwondo.

Brandon is currently developing a start-up focusing on nutrition technology and is seeking opportunities to apply his strong analytical and communication skills. 

Prior to joining MMI, Brandon completed several research terms at the Li Ka Shing Research Institute.  His work resulted in a successful publication in the Journal of Gastroenterology and numerous presentations.
