DOUG BRENNAND

Doug BrennandB. of Engineering Sciences  - Green Processing Engineering

University of Western Ontario

Doug recently graduated from the University of Western Ontario, obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering Sciences in Green Process Engineering; a program that combines the fundamental principles of Chemical Engineering, as well as Green Engineering applications. This program allowed him to pursue an engineering degree while integrating his passion for sustainability and renewable energy. For his final year capstone project, Doug and his team developed a method of upgrading fast pyrolysis bio‐oil derived from woody biomass residue into industrial grade transportation fuels including gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.

Throughout his educational career at university, Doug was highly involved in extra-curricular activities. From second to fourth year, Doug secured the position of Vice President of Sponsorship for Operation Smile Students Association. Through his leadership, the students raised funds through fundraising events and sponsorship to provide surgery for children in developing countries who were born with cleft lips and palettes. Doug also participated in intramural sports and student orientation in the Soph program.

Doug wishes to provide proactive solutions to existing and emerging problems like the dependency on crude oil, and its near depletion, through consultation. This program would allow him to successfully incorporate his comprehension of green fuels, chemicals and renewable energy in a consulting environment. Entering the management and consulting discipline will help him to further his aspiration of improving global sustainability.
