UTM Debating Club, Mississauga City Youth Council To Host Mayoral Forum On Youth

The Mississauga City Youth Council and the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) Debating Club are set to jointly host #SaugaSpeaks: A Mayoral Forum on Youth, a forum organized for youth, by youth, that provides an opportunity for young people to share their views and aspirations for the future of the city, and deepen their understanding of municipal politics.

The public forum will feature political candidates running for the city’s top job. Mayoral candidates will discuss and debate local youth affairs, including public transit, youth unemployment, job creation, poverty, arts and culture, as well as affordable recreational programmes.

Forum participant include mayoral candidates Scott Chapman, Bonnie Crombie, Paul Fromm, Kevin Jackal Johnston, Masood Khan, Stephen King, Steven Mahoney, Derek Ramkissoon, Andrew Seitz, and Sheraz Siddiqui. Master of ceremonies for the event is local youth reporter Ryan Rocca, of the Rogers Television program All Access Pass.

Mississauga youth are encouraged to send relevant questions directed towards one or more candidates via Twitter using the hashtag #SaugaSpeaks. Questions may also be sent directly via e-mail to Nicole Danesi.

#SaugaSpeaks takes place Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM in room 1080 of the Communication, Culture, Information and Technology (CCIT) Building at University of Toronto Mississauga. The event is free of charge, however attendees should RSVP on the online event page
