New vice-president & principal to be formally installed at U of T Mississauga

The University of Toronto Mississauga will celebrate the formal installation of its new vice-president and principal on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at 4 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Recreation, Athletics and Wellness Centre, University of Toronto Mississauga, 3359 Mississauga Rd. N., Mississauga, ON.

Professor Hargurdeep (Deep) Saini will be formally installed as a vice-president of the University of Toronto and principal of the University of Toronto Mississauga. Saini will be U of T Mississauga's 8th principal, a position that was broadened in 2002 to encompass vice-presidential responsibilities as well. As vice-president and principal, Saini reports jointly to the president of the University of Toronto (on overall campus management matters) and to the provost (on academic matters).

At the installation, U of T's provost Cheryl Misak will offer opening remarks and welcome guests. Other speakers will include U of T president David Naylor and Mayor Hazel McCallion of the City of Mississauga as well as student, faculty/staff, alumni and university governance representatives. Saini will give a 10-minute address. A reception will follow the installation.
