First-Year Transitional Support

Peer Academic Leader

For students interested in additional academic and transitional support a PAL always has your back. A Peer Academic Leader or PAL is an upper-year student in a related discipline that provides mentorship and guidance to help first-year students transition to university life.

Students are given the opportunity to attend workshops designed to enhance their academic skills focusing on topics such as study planning, learning styles, note taking, academic goal setting, professional communication and writing skills. Essential to this experience is the opportunity to participate in one-to-one meetings with their PAL, attend Facilitated Study Groups (FSGs) and engage with faculty outside of the classroom.

Be sure to opt-into the PAL program on your residence application. If you have any questions about the PAL program or your application you can always contact us!
