Ontario Biology Day News

Sanja Hinic-Frlog

On March 24 & 25, 2018, Prof. Sanja Hinic-Frlog and a group of 33 UTM Biology undergraduate students presented their ROP or BIO481 research at the 31st Ontario Biology Day at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. UTM Biology students gave 11 talks and presented 8 posters.

Four projects received an award this year and they were the projects presented by:

  • Erika Frangione (Stefanovic lab) for the best oral presentation in Cellular, Molecular & Genetics category
  • Marigrace Noronha (Chatfield, Richter & Career Centre) for the best oral presentation in Science Education category
  • Clyde Yan, Margaux Gaelan, Nadine Le, and Shakil Islam (Chatfield & Hinic-Frlog) for the best poster in Science Education category
  • Mariana Vincente, Jonathan Davidson, and Tommy Lin (Richter & Havelka) who received an honourable mention for their poster in Ecology & Evolution category

It was wonderful to see such a large group of UTM Biology students at OBD this year. Thanks to everyone who came to support our students this weekend. If one of the students from your lab presented a talk or a poster, please give them a high five for a job well done!
