Backpack to Briefcase speaker, Warren Edgar, spent his years after graduation developing his expertise as a financial advisor and creating a legacy of alumni volunteerism.
Shortly after graduating from the University of Toronto Mississauga in 1987, Edgar helped raise funds for the Kaneff Centre and Student Centre. He went on to participate in the UTM mentorship program, serve on numerous college committees including Campus Council, Campus Affairs Committee on Governance and the U of T Alumni Council of Presidents, and is a past president of the U of T Mississauga Alumni Association.
Currently, he sits on the U of T Mississauga Boundless Campaign Cabinet and Governing Council for Athletics. In recognition for Edgar volunteer work, he received the U of T Mississauga Top 40 Under 40 alumni award in honour of U of T Mississauga's 40th anniversary, and is a recipient of the Arbor Award—U of T's highest award for volunteerism.
Outside of his career and volunteer work with U of T, Edgar continues to give of his time as the neighbourhood representative for the Cancer Society of Canada, including chairing the Harry Rosen Men's Fashion Show and Gala. For the last ten years, he has coordinated an annual Earth Day cleanup with his family. As the father of three athletic girls, he's dedicated many years to coaching competitive travel soccer with the Oakville Soccer Club and the Oakville Hornets Hockey Club.
