Victor Pazos earned a Bachelor of Commerce in 2006 and pursued his Chartered Professional Accountant Designation while articling at Ernst & Young LLP and Zeifmans LLP, serving clients in a variety of industries ranging from manufacturing, telecommunications, not-for-profit organizations, medical, pharmaceutical companies and financial institutions.
In 2010, Victor joined PANDORA, a global jewelry company headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark with operations worldwide that was experiencing high growth and in the process of becoming a publicly listed entity on the Nasdaq OMX in Copenhagen. Victor’s responsibilities included management and tax reporting, directing the general accounting, fixed asset, receivables, payables and payroll areas, assisting with the budgeting & forecasting process, preparing the monthly financial reporting package for the parent company, performing financial analysis, involvement in systems implementations and developing and maintaining an effective system of internal controls.
Victor worked closely with his international colleagues to streamline the monthly financial close process, worked on the conversion to IFRS for the Canadian Subsidiary to support the Danish parent company during the IPO process and implemented other process efficiencies such as deployment of a comprehensive travel and expense management solution. Victor played a critical role in supporting senior management with the accounting, tax, and legal aspects of establishing two new subsidiary corporations and the acquisition and conversion of an independent franchise store to the first corporate owned store in the Canadian market. Throughout his tenure at PANDORA, Victor grew the Finance team from a team of 2 to a team of 4 and played a critical role in managing the Canadian finance function to support a 700% increase in annual Canadian revenues over a 5 year period.
Victor is currently the Manager of Financial Reporting & Accounting at LifeLabs, a national provider of medical diagnostic testing services that performs over 100 million laboratory tests for over 19 million patient visits across Canada.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, Victor is responsible for leading a team of 6 in the provision of comprehensive, accurate and timely management and consolidated financial reporting. Other areas of responsibility include process improvements, accounting policy review and evaluation under IFRS, internal controls and special projects in connection with post-merger integration activities and divestitures.
Victor is also the past treasurer and past board member of BIG: Bloor Improvement group, a local not for profit organization whose mission was to advance the economic, physical, cultural and social life of the targeted local Bloor street area (between Lansdowne and Christie) in the City of Toronto by creating opportunities and events that celebrated the area, primarily through the provision of an annual street festival and other local initiatives.
